Architectural Salvage

I want to buy the eagle topped lamp in this photo for my front porch, since the bed and breakfast will be called "Eagle Heights" and the school's mascot is the eagle. This would also match the door knocker of the house.

That is some lamp.
And seeing that brought back a memory from Middle school.
Involving a steam train lamp that one of the teachers had, all battered, painted in nasty mat red paint.
And a freind of my mum's who restored old steam train bits.
To cut a long story short he had a look at the lamp,he had one which was simular, beutifully restored, shinny super gloss black and shiny brass, with lenses that could be swapped from green too red. The teacher was over the moon, my Mums mate was over the moon as he had himself an LNER trainlamp which he restored and probably still has as one of his pride and joy steam train collectables.

This one looks like it used to be a gas lamp which was modified for electricity later. I don't think it will sel so fast that I need to worry about buying it right away, so I have some time to make a decision about it.
